Align your workgroup on outreach to potential champions. Target those with the potential to be a successful local champion for your coalition.

  2. Determine frequency of outreach
    • Initial outreach or introduction to the coalition.
    • Set up a formal meeting to discuss the issue(s) in your community.
    • Follow-up after the meeting with a thank you and leave behind a nugget of interest.
    • Follow-up 1 week after meeting if candidate hasn’t already reached out to you with an invite to a coalition meeting.
    • Follow-up post meeting with an official invitation to be a local champion.
    • Follow-up a week after invitation if you haven’t heard back after second follow up. Consider a new local champion candidate while still inviting the member to join the coalition but at a lesser responsibility or time commitment if possible.
