Funding for coalitions can come from many sources — legislative monies, organizational funding (such as a health department, law enforcement bodies, SAMHSA), and partner donations.

  • Legislative and organizational funding is often secured by the method of grants. Grants are essentially an application process that outlines a set of rules and the potential rewards for submissions.
  • Legislative funding is usually run by a government department such as the department of health and human services. They will have a standard process and set of requirements that each grantee must provide. The structure is rigid.
  • Organizational funding can be through a corporate foundation or a non-profit organization that is set up to better communities and they follow grant processes as well to ensure non-bias funding. Don’t be afraid to apply for large corporate grants such as a Google Ad grant, Ford Foundation, Apple, or Facebook.
