Keeping a growing member base will help with turnover in the larger group and keep the action plan in motion. Coalition members should always be networking, working connections, inviting others to join the cause, and educating those around them.
Keeping Members Engaged
An active coalition is a successful coalition. Engaging your members gives them meaning in purpose on the cause. Activating your members means activating your community and seeing change and progress in your community action plan. When members have a purpose, they feel a deep connection to the cause and work they are doing that can help with turnover and act as an attractant to other potential members
- Create and stick to a regular meeting cadence for the coalition.
- Create opportunities for members to become more involved if they choose, such as sub-committees that members can join.
- Create opportunities for member bonding and team building (more in-depth training in lesson 9)
- Get to know your members! They are unique individuals that can be utilized for success if you get to know them and what they bring to the table.
- Help them. Getting to know your members allows you to offer them challenges, get them involved with specific projects geared for their success, or find a “place” they can thrive in and find that purpose drive.
